Espresso beans: unground and unequaled – Italian coffee culture without compromise.
If you like to take the fresh preparation into your own hands step by step, then espresso beans are the right choice for you.
It doesn’t matter whether you enjoy mild espresso beans, strong full-bodied compositions pure or like espresso milk specialties such as cappuccino or latte macchiato. Our roasting master Umberto has created various espresso bean blends that are precisely tailored to the different taste preferences of espresso lovers.
By the way, if you prepare more water, you can also use an espresso coffee to make an excellent Caffè Lungo. The higher the Arabica content , the milder the taste. The more Robusta in your blend, the stronger your coffee experience will be. You can find the mixing ratio for each variety in the Properties section. When preparing in a fully automatic coffee machine or portafilter, make sure that you do not set the degree of grinding too fine for a Caffè Lungo.
To prepare an espresso , use a fine grit. The result is perfect when about 30 ml get into the cup within 25 to 30 seconds. With a small sip of water beforehand, you neutralize your palate and optimally prepare it for enjoyment.
If you find it difficult to choose from the variety, our lovingly put together espresso bean tasting sets can be of help to you. This way you can get an overview, get to know the great variety of flavors and discover your favorite espresso.

Buy the best Italian espresso beans in our online shop, gently processed in traditional drum roasting.
Welcome to the realm of the espresso bean ! What counts here is the most intense aroma, the greatest freshness in the preparation and, of course, the unmistakable Cellini taste. Both professionals and hobby baristas and true office connoisseurs swear by whole espresso beans when it comes to preparing freshly brewed Cellini Caffè. One feeds the whole bean to the fully automatic machine, while the other prefers to grind it by hand.
However, both of them know that our coffee tastes the most intense when it is ground just before brewing, as this way the least flavor evaporates. Outstanding, aromatic espresso requires the right bean at the right time, preparation with attention to detail and – that goes without saying – a love of coffee.
What is important when choosing your espresso beans? Where does the special difference come from, which is perceived with all the senses as soon as the pack is opened for the first time? The answer lies behind the Italian art of roasting and the long tradition of our products. Because when raw coffee varieties from the best growing areas on earth are delivered to us in Italy, the decisive step awaits you here, with which we transform coffee beans into Cellini espresso beans.
We are of course talking about the refinement of the bean through even heat, drum roasting . Cellini uses a traditional process called “Tostatura Lenta”, also known as “slow roasting”, in which the beans are slowly and evenly roasted in the roasting drum. In contrast to industrial roasting processes used by other manufacturers, in which efficiency and productivity are paramount, our process is longer and gentler for original Italian espresso coffee with a roasting time of around 18-20 minutes. In this way, aromas are released in every single bean that give the coffee its original character – from the first opening of the pack to the last sip.
Now that you know the benefits of unground espresso coffee and slow roasting, the question remains which blend best suits your personal taste. From the classic and mild aroma to adventurously intense creations, our excellent espresso blends offer something for every taste.
Those looking for a strong aroma and flavor will love our Espresso Crema Speciale and Caffè Crema Forte. On the other hand, for those who appreciate the gentle taste balance, we recommend the milder Prestigio 100% Arabica espresso . In order to find your own favourite, the rule is: “The proof of the pudding is in the eating”.
Test our various blends and create your own espresso, caffè lungo, crema, latte macchiato, cappuccino, milk coffee & Co. to your heart’s content. Look forward to the excellent products from the Cellini Caffè brand and the unchanged Italian coffee enjoyment as it was more than 70 years ago.
expert tips
Our team of pleasure enthusiasts and coffee experts regularly provides you with valuable tips and knowledge about your favorite hot drink. For you, only the best espresso beans with chocolaty, intense notes count or do you prefer it fine, mild and sour with lots of roasted aromas? This is what a really good espresso can taste like. Whether it can meet expectations depends primarily on the green coffee used. Umberto Durante, master roaster at Cellini Caffè in Genoa, explains in detail what is special about espresso beans and what you should look for when buying one. Difference between espresso beans and coffee beans
The term “ espresso bean ” is technically not entirely correct. For the preparation of a caffè, as the little pick-me-up is called in Italy, the same beans are used as for any other coffee. There is simply no coffee plant that grows espresso beans. The beans for regular coffee and espresso both come from the coffee plant…
Cultivation of espresso beans
By definition, coffee beans are not beans at all, but seeds contained in the fruit of the coffee plant, the so-called coffee cherry. The coffee cherry is surrounded by a soft, red-yellow flesh with two stone pits, which are protected by a parchment-like film. The plano-convex seeds (coffee beans) are surrounded by a very thin seed coat. By the way, the term coffee bean goes back to a mistake…
The preparation
The right preparation technique determines the enjoyment factor of your espresso. Do you love a full crema and intense aroma? For example, with a fully automatic coffee machine you can prepare excellent espresso or specialties such as latte macchiato and cappuccino. Many parameters are already preset at the factory…
